Calendar of Events for 2016

HUDSON FINE CRAFT
ACTIVITIES 2016

Jan 19 General Meeting

Over the centuries people (mostly women) found ways to add beauty to the everyday objects they made to clothe their families and furnish their homes.  They developed tools and skills to sew, embroider, knit, quilt, make lace and perform other domestic activities. Many of these objects had a beauty that far transcended the utilitarian, and could well be considered as art.

Hudson Fine Craft and the Hudson Historical Society in collaboration with the Hudson War Memorial library are organizing a series of exhibitions and supporting events called “Women’s Work”. The goal of the exhibitions is to revisit these activities and present examples of fine work from the period between 1800 and 1950. We want to examine how these skills have evolved, and in what ways they are still relevant today.

To do this, we are asking for your help.  Do you have any items that we could include in the exhibition?
